Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jeane Mortenson on 1 June 1926. The studio name is the one on the covers. The films that still hold are Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Seven Year Itch, and Some Like It Hot.
She died in Los Angeles on 5 August 1962. She was 36. The coroner called it a probable suicide. The argument about that night has outlived every person who was in the house.
What a magazine can print without inventing a scene is the work. She could hold a still picture, and she could hold a comedy. The photograph on this issue is a 1952 studio still from Clash by Night.
