It may suit a person who can pay the renewals without needing the name to sell this year. It is a poor idea for anyone who needs the money back on a date.
Demand is lumpy. A premium domain can take years to meet the one buyer who needs it. Asking prices are not sale prices. Domain Investors tells new buyers to budget the renewals first.
Some investors make money by selling, leasing, or building a small site that sends a real enquiry. None of those is guaranteed. A name that infringes a trade mark is not an investment. It is a dispute.
