The model that stays on the device

Liquid AI is an MIT spin-off, founded in March 2023 by Ramin Hasani, Mathias Lechner, Alexander Amini and Daniela Rus. Wikipedia’s entry, current as of 5 October 2026, says the models can keep adapting after training and run on a device without a cloud round trip. In December 2024 the company raised $250 million, a round led by AMD, at a valuation above $2.3 billion. In January 2025 it announced LFM-7B, a model with 7 billion parameters.
Those figures are the company’s and the encyclopaedia’s. This magazine has not re-run the benchmark. The useful point is the shape of the product: a smaller model, on the machine in front of the reader, instead of a prompt sent to someone else’s server.
Readers who want a studio that already lists outside models, rather than a chip story, use the studio and AI tools. The LLC copies are the LLC studio and LLC tools.
