John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on 29 May 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. He was the 35th president of the United States. He took the oath on 20 January 1961.
The crisis people still teach is October 1962, when Soviet missiles were found in Cuba and the ships turned around. He had been in office less than two years.
On 22 November 1963 he was shot while the motorcade went through Dealey Plaza in Dallas. He died at Parkland Hospital that afternoon. Lyndon Johnson was sworn in on Air Force One. The photograph is the official White House portrait made on 11 July 1963.
